You just had your home cleaned by Mini Maid and now you want to maintain it until the next cleaning comes around. This may seem like a daunting task, but here are some housekeeping guidelines that will help keep you on the right track to a clean home all year long. We’re all busy, so why not get the whole family to help minimize the mess by implementing some simple daily rituals before spring cleaning hits in full force.

  1. Sweep now, mop later.

Don’t let dust and dirt sneak up on you. Every day, take time to quickly sweep your floors with a broom or Swiffer. By staying on top of the dirt, when you do go to mop it will be a breeze.

  1. Take out the trash.

Take out your kitchen trash every day. This easy habit will keep your house pest-free and smelling clean.

  1. Make your bed.

When you’ve had an exhausting day, you’ll be relieved to come home to a neatly made bed. This simple morning ritual immediately makes your room more presentable and prepares you for a productive day.

  1. Stay on top of laundry.

Aim to cycle and fold at least one load of laundry every day or two to spread out the work throughout your week.

  1. File paperwork.

Don’t allow mail, receipts and newspapers to pile up around the house. Recycle anything you don’t need and immediately file the rest in a designated tray or drawer. If you’re crunched on time, try to maintain one neat pile so nothing gets lost.

  1. Wipe down the kitchen counters.

Take care of messes as they happen so the crumbs and spills don’t pile up. Wipe down messy surfaces with a clean sponge or washcloth after each use to maintain a clean cooking space free of grime, bugs and odor.

  1. Clear the kitchen table.

If you have a family, make an effort to eat together and at the same time so that everyone can help clear the table when you’re finished.

  1. Load the dishwasher before bedtime.

The dishwasher should be loaded and run every night, then unloaded every morning before breakfast. No one likes waking up to a pile of dirty dishes from the night before. This daily ritual will keep your kitchen sink clear of clutter and odor-free.
