Not only is it great on a sandwich, but one of America’s favorite condiments can also be used to remove water and murky marks from your favorite wood furniture.
REAL mayonnaise is traditionally made with vegetable oils, egg yolks and either vinegar or lemon juice. These oil-based ingredients work together to disperse these light water stains that are often found on our favorite pieces of wood furniture. Mayonnaise only works on cloudy wood finishes and water stains and is not recommended to use to clean stains that have completely infiltrated the finish and discolored the wood. These stains are typically darker and the only way to get rid of them is to strip the finish and bleach the wood.
To remove the stains, all you have to do is rub about a tablespoon of mayonnaise on the stained area and rub with rag. Let the mayonnaise sit for 5-10 minutes so the oils can react to disperse the water stains.
Mayonnaise can also work well to fight crayon marks on furniture and walls and it can even be used to remove oddly-placed stickers. Whatever you need to be cleaned, just apply mayonnaise to a rag, rub it on, let it sit and then rub it off!
