Valentine’s Day can be a special time to celebrate the love in your life. Whether you’re in a long-term relationship or just starting out, it’s the perfect opportunity to show your significant other how much you care. From romantic dinners to creative activities, we’ve got a few ideas to make Valentine’s Day extra special for both of you!
Start Planning
Planning activities for Valentine’s Day does not have to be difficult, but it does take some thought. After all, you are trying to show how much you care for your partner and how special they are to you. Depending on your relationship and personalities, there are a variety of different activities that you can choose from, but here are a few tips to get your creativity flowing:
- Start by making a list of all the activities that make you think of love or romance. This can include things like going for a romantic walk in nature, watching a classic movie together, having a picnic with food and wine, taking a dance class together, or even just cuddling up on the couch with a glass of wine at the end of the day.
- Then think outside the box and come up with creative ideas beyond what’s traditionally seen as romantic. Maybe try playing mini-golf or bowling together, or go on an adventure like horseback riding or rock climbing! You could also plan something more unique, like visiting an art gallery or museum exhibit together.
- Choose activities that suit both of your interests, so neither one of you feels left out. It could be something as simple as cooking dinner together and then enjoying it afterward; this way, you can spend quality time together while still doing something enjoyable!
- Then it’s time to make a plan! Pick one (or a couple of your ideas) and make it happen!

Ideas for Valentine’s Day
Looking for something a little adventurous? Why not plan an overnight camping trip or take a day trip somewhere new? Pack up some snacks and head out into nature or explore a nearby city that neither of you has visited before. We’re lucky to have so many great cities and towns nearby to explore!
If you’re looking for something a little more romantic and intimate, why not plan a candlelit dinner at home? Set the mood by preparing a delicious dinner with your loved one’s favorite dishes. Add some candles and flowers to really set the scene! Top it off with an evening of dancing under the stars or playing board games together. (And of course, if your home could use a little bit of tidying before Valentine’s Day – don’t forget to give us a call! We’ll make sure your place is looking its best!)
How about a night out on the town? Dinner is always a good idea – especially at your favorite restaurant – and then why not see a show? You could catch a movie on the big screen or see a local theater production. (Check out The Hipp’s calendar to see what they’ve got planned! And remember: You don’t necessarily have to celebrate Valentine’s Day on the 14th!)
Or what about taking a class together? Dance class? Cooking class? Crafting class? There are all sorts of classes that you can take together – and even if you’re not the greatest dancer or cook, you’ll have lots of fun laughing as you do it together!
Quality time spent together can make all the difference when celebrating Valentine’s Day. Spending some time together talking and catching up may be more meaningful than exchanging gifts because making memories together is something that no amount of money can buy. Happy Valentine’s Day!
